WHAT’S HAPPENING?

NEWS ABOUT THE FOUNDATION’S

SIX NEW SCHOALRSHIPS IN 2015.

 

LINDA OHL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: an annually funded scholarship established in 2015 by her sons, Brent and Craig Ohl. This scholarship will be given in memory of their Mother, who passed away unexpectly at the age of 65. Linda had been an active North Scott Athletic Booster during her sons’ high school years and loved watching the NS Lancers. This scholarship is to be awarded to a NS wrestler who shows academic promise and strength of character as he continues his education. This $3000 scholarship is a tribute to Linda Ohl’s ideals.

DENNIS HAAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: a one-time scholarship in 2015 granted by the wife and children of Dennis Haas. Dennis was the proprietor of Haas Insurance. He had a strong work ethic, a passionate love for his family and a respect for the value of higher education.  This $2500 Scholarship is need-based and is a means of furthering the education of a student who might otherwise not have the opportunity.

 

THE CLASS OF 1964 SCHOLARSHIP: a one-time scholarship in 2015 awarded by the North Scott High School Class of 1964. This class took up a collection at their 50th Class Reunion in 2014 in order to grant a scholarship to a deserving North Scott graduate. The $1100 Scholarship will go to a student who demonstrates high achievement and leadership qualities.

 

THE DEBIOSE-CHRISTOFF HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP: started in 2015 by Judy Christoff-DeBiose.   Judy donated Apple Stock to the Foundation establishing a Scholarship Fund in memory of her late husband, Dr. David DeBiose. Dr. DeBiose, a radiation oncologist, dedicated his life to taking care of patients with cancer. His legacy continues through this $750 annual scholarship that goes to a student who plans to pursue a degree in a health related field.

 

THE DIANA WENNDT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: established in 2015 by her husband, Sharm Wenndt. His $10,000 endowment to the Foundation created the Diana Wenndt Memorial Scholarship Fund which will provide a $500 annual scholarship in her name. Diana Wenndt was a school teacher at Alan Shepard Elementary when she died unexpectedly. She was a devoted teacher who was respected and loved by her students and fellow faculty members. The initial scholarships will go to students who had Mrs. Wenndt as their teacher.

 

THE MICHAEL REED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: established in 2015 by his wife, Deanna Reed. Her $5000 endowment to the Foundation set up the Michael Reed Memorial Scholarship Fund which will provide a $250 annual scholarship in his memory. Michael enjoyed coaching his kids’ sports teams and volunteering throughout the North Scott community. Aside from his family, he valued education above all else. This scholarship will go to a determined graduate who will attend either a two or four year college.
